I’ve hit the 6-month ‘wall’ that is common when facing a crisis, significant change, or pandemic! I feel hopeless and stir-crazy. They say that the 6-month wall is totally normal and most of the world is going through it and we just need to hold on another 4 weeks or so, and we’ll get over the wall. I’M WAITING! Maybe I’ll feel comfortable dining on a patio at some point too, but until then, take out it is!
I’ve made it my mission to support as many local Austin restaurants as I can through take out. I know many of you are wanting to try new-to-you spots so here is another list of my favorite spots with the best bites I’ve ordered for take out! Get out there and support local Austin if you can. Our restaurants in Austin sure could use the support!

101 by Teahaus
I’ve probably had take out from 101 by Teahaus a handful of times the last 6 months. They’re constantly coming out with new things – Spicy Haus Fried Chicken Sandwich – the Seoul Burger. Love everything there especially the bulgogi tots, basil fried chicken and the beef noodle soup.
If you’re a boba fan, they supposedly have solid choices (I can’t have dairy and stay away from caffeine so boba teas just don’t work for me).
Anyway, seriously, order whatever your heart desires from their menu soon. Happy tummies 🙂

Gourmands
Whenever we want a solid sandwich and/or salad, Gourmands crosses our mind! Their Tortilla Salad is HUGE, loaded and craveable. My go-to sandwiches are the Foghorn Leghorn, Julia, and the Earl but they’ve got quite a selection and I guarantee you’ll find at least one you love.
They’ve had a solid to-go offering for most of the last 6 months and online ordering is super easy. So just place your order when the sandwich or salad craving hits and run by to pick it up. Oh, their cocktails are super delish too!
Southside Flying Pizza
Sadly, it took me too long to get pizza from Southside, but boy, now that I have, I will order again and again! This summer, I became a pineapple on pizza fan – guess my tastesbuds have changed? More refined? Anyway, the Flyin’ Hawaiian is a delight. The jalapenos give the pizza a nice kick!
Be sure to order their pizza rolls. They’re probably my favorite in town now. Also, any salad would be a solid choice. Get your veggies in!
