Hey thanks for visiting and reading these! So many of you have been asking for recommendations for best spots to get take out in Austin and I figured a weekly roundup would be helpful. I hope you’re hanging in there and staying well. We’re hunkered down and thankful for A/C because it’s HOT out.
I’ve made it my mission to support as many local Austin restaurants as I can through take out. I know many of you are wanting to try new-to-you spots so here is another list of my favorite spots with the best bites I’ve ordered for take out! Get out there and support local Austin if you can. Our restaurants in Austin sure could use the support!
Remember that pictures and videos are in the Vessel Map rather than down below. If you click on a particular location, you’ll have the option to go to their website, check out a menu and see my pics and/or videos per location.
Little Ola’s
I love a really good biscuit! Prior to COVID, Olamaie’s biscuits were my favorite. They reminded me so much of the biscuits I grew up eating in Southern Louisiana. Olamaie changed up their model during COVID – enter Little Ola’s. It’s a take away biscuit shop open Thursday through Sunday right now. Get biscuits and jam or butter, Fried Chicken Biscuit Sandwich, Country Ham and Cheese – whatever you choose, just order online! Do not complete your order without ordering a chocolate pudding or a sweet treat. Trust me 🙂 And they’ve got cocktails to-go as well so get on it!
Suerte
Suerte is a taqueria for now and I’m here for it! We ordered the Suadero tacos and the Chicken tacos with a side of esquites and our tummies were so happy! I loved how they packaged the tacos (meat separate from the tortillas) to prevent sogginess. I think they’re doing the take out game really well!

Hoover’s Cooking
I’m sad that it took me so long to try Hoover’s. I mean, their food is outstanding! I ordered the 1/4 BBQ Chicken plate with sides (mac and cheese, green beans, mashed potatoes for the win) and thought the chicken was packed with flavor and the sides were delish! Order online and take your pick from their large menu – you won’t go wrong with whatever you choose!
Bufalina Pizza
Bufalina has made an appearance on a previous guide but that was their deli at The Brew and Brew. Now, we’re paying respects to the brick-and-mortar where you can get their pizzas to go! I was so impressed with their take out game – place your order online, pull up, call them, they bring the pizza to you. Quick and painless. I even saw stacks of boxes ready to load up with pizza orders through the window so you know they’re prepared! They’ve got some of the tastiest Neapolitan Pizzas in town. Have you ordered yours yet?
Kome
Kome was the first sushi spot I ordered take out from and they had the curbside pickup process nailed from the get-go. Clearly they’re a popular spot because they have pickup spots labeled at least more than halfway through the alphabet! I love their nigiri kit where you get 5 pieces of nigiri. I also think it’s pretty great that you can get Daruma Ramen (their sister restaurant) creations with your Kome sushi from the same place. I’ve ordered a sushi roll and ramen before 🙂
Happy take out to you! Let me know if you try any of these recommendations (or prior recs) down below in the comments. If you have any spots that are doing the take out game well, hit me up!
Bon Appetite,
Shveta
