Old Thousand – dope Chinese now available for lunch!

Old Thousand has been serving up some modern Chinese food on the Eastside of ATX and when I heard they were starting lunch service, I had to make my way there to try out their new menu!

Dined with @atxeatsandtreats and we shared the following (I didn’t eat it all by myself y’all) —

Forbidden Rice – such a beautiful and flavorful dish with the goji berries and citrus-chile vinagrette

Khao Man Gai Spring Roll – the braised chicken thigh, pickled cabbage, mint, carrot and all the other goodies in here had me wishing I didn’t have to share!

Never leave Old Thousand without eating their Brisket Fried Rice!

Nommmmm – Dan Dan Mian with ground pork, chili oil and preserved black bean was out of this world!

Prices are reasonable and you’ll have leftovers! Head on over…invite me for a lunch date 🙂

Get you some #dopechinese,

Grizzelda’s Sunday Brunch Buffet – NOM!

The Sunday brunch buffet at Grizzelda’s is a must! You can even listen to the DJ Vibing with 90s vs 80s or Cher vs Madonna!

I finally made it in a couple weekends ago and it won’t be my last time to go. The buffet is $20 for all you can eat, also pancakes and eggs made to order, $5 Margaritas and $10 Mimosa Pitchers. Quite a steal for all the best Interior Mexican food you can eat!

My first plate with all so much yumminess! And a Mimosa in the background and fresh corn tortillas.

Second plate of more goodness – but, ordered over easy eggs to put on top.

Enter, the over easy eggs

Plate 2 with an egg on top!

And last but not least, Mexican Chocolate Pudding – so perfect!

Stop in the next time you want one of the tastiest and affordable buffets for brunch — make reservations  on Grizzelda’s site if you can plan ahead because they get packed!

Happy brunching,

Austin Daily Press Starts Bar Menu at The Wheel!

Two of my neighborhood faves have partnered together to offer a Bar Menu at The Wheel daily from 5PM to close with yummies from Austin Daily Press!

I had the pleasure of trying out all of the items on the menu: Grilled Queso Fresco with a Seasonal Fruit Salad, Crispy Pork Belly with Grilled Broccoli, Fried Brussel Sprouts with Marinated Feta, and the September monthly special, The Princess of Mushroom Kingdom (chicken edition).

If you haven’t enjoyed an ADP entree before, head on over soon. They’re mostly a scratch kitchen and use local produce for their grub. I love the names of their monthly specials, like The Princess of Mushroom Kingdom pictured here (but with fried chicken instead):

That’s a huge fried queso fresco on top!

Did you know for every Monthly Special you purchase, a meal is provided to someone in need through Mealshare? Just another excuse to eat for a cause, y’all!

Here’s everything pictured in this overhead shot:

ADP is opening a second location off of E. Cesar Chavez soon so be on the lookout as their empire grows!

Bon Appetite,

Frosé Tour with Envy and Me! Because Frosé all day (literally)

Haven’t heard of Envy? Well, what are you waiting for — check out findyourenvy.com for all the details about this amazing visual search engine for all the things you love. I’m one of the Austin Ambassadors for Envy and had the pleasure of co-hosting a Frosé Tour! Thanks to all of you who joined and for those of you who were interested but unable to join, there will be more tours with me in the near future!

There were 5 stops along the way and each of the stops participated either with free snacks, discounted food or drinks, and they were all wonderful hosts!

First up, Revelry Kitchen + Bar where everyone who had a ticket to the tour came by to pick up their wristband and grab a frosé!

Second stop was Kitty Cohen’s — it was so hot out that day so a FrosĂ© was in order!

Next up, Irene’s because who doesn’t love a good FrosĂ© with some amazing nutella toast and popcorn?!

Moving along to downtown off Red River, Cheer Up Charlie’s welcomed us in with Watermelon FrosĂ©!

And the last stop on the tour was Eastside Tavern where we enjoyed a gorgeous sunset on the rooftop, lots of yummy brisket tater tots and nachos and of course, the last Frosé for the night!

Cheers to all who joined and drank Frosé with us literally all day!

CEO and Co-Founder of Envy on the left and me on the right 🙂

Hope to see you soon for some Frosé!

Cheers,

Shveta

Prettiest Dinner at My New Fave – Pitchfork Pretty

Admittedly, I stalked Pitchfork Pretty for their opening date for months! Within a month of their opening, I had the opportunity to take some friends visiting from San Diego for dinner. I was so impressed with Pitchfork Pretty, I feel they deserve an entire post on my site!

Ok, so I recommend ordering the following because this is how I ate them and LOVED every bite:

Buckwheat Cornbread – that’s honey miso butter with the prettiest edible flowers on top

Pimento cheese with embered chiles and whole wheat crackers – YUM!

Aguachile – I’m obsessed with this since having it in Tulum. It has snapper, watermelon, aloe and basil and it’s just too good!

Yuca Dumplings – come here my pretty! These tasty yuca pillows with queso oaxaca, escabeche and wild oregano had me singing!

Grilled Blue Crab with cucumber, melon and sunflower – this was just outstanding…such an awesome punch of flavors. Get a bit of everything in one bite!

Poached Ruby Trout with roasted tomato, fennel, and breadcrumbs – I’ve never had Ruby Trout but I’d definitely eat this again. So light and flavorful!

Last but not least, FRIED CHICKEN with sweet potato salad, rolls, red chile paste and buttermilk dressing – oh my word! GET IT!

We had absolutely no room for dessert but did enjoy a glass of wine (or two).

Officially proclaiming that Pitchfork Pretty is my favorite restaurant. I hope you get to dine there soon!

Bon Appetite,

-Shveta
